Welcome to the homepage for EDUC 514: Digital Video in the Classroom for Fall 2, 2011.  This site will be our online hub for class information and collaborative assignments.  

Course Information

Course Description:

In this course students will learn the basics of planning, shooting, and editing small scale movies and video projects using modern digital video technology. Students will learn to use digital video cameras and video editing software to create custom learning experiences, enhancing their students’ classroom experiences.

Student Objectives:

Students will learn to:

  • Identify and use a variety of shot types, including the “rule of thirds”

  • Use digital editing software to cut and crop video clips

  • Understand the role of music and audio in the video experience

  • Use software to add transitions, special effects, and titles to video

  • Use software to enhance video sound and add voice overs

  • Incorporate video tools into classroom lessons to enhance the learner experience

Required Materials

Hardware: Digital Video Camera / iPad

Software: Mac: iMovie or Final Cut Express | PC: Adobe Premier (Pro or Elements)/ Windows Movie Maker / Sony Vegas
